Chinese New Year Do's and Don'ts

As CNY is coming, all chinese will do spring cleaning in the 12 month of chinese calendar. Choose an auspicious day to start and ensure every occupants participate. Word of cautious, DO NOT argue or quarrel during this day or else not able to get rid of bad chi. It is advisable to dispose clothes more than 7 years and to soak all other clothes after wash in pamelo leaf water. Also ensure there are equal or more sets of bowl or plates, spoon, fork to the number of occupants.

On day 24th of 12 month, start to stock up all foods and rice. Remember to wrap the container with red paper (if can get the Fook word). As for those who want to welcome the Prosperity God (Choy San), this is an alternative to joss stick. On night of 30th, sit in the open and face South between 11pm to 12am. Next switch to South East between 12am to 1am. At the same time, you need to eat orange, mandarin orange and water apple (sui yong/蓮霧).

It is believe that those who able to do this will be receiving good fortune. If you got your precious stone as per your BaZi then place it in a container to face those direction. It'll store the energy for a year and should someone do this for 7 years, it is believe they will enjoy good life for the rest of their life.

Of course to avoid look stupid, one may consider watching movie/video in that direction and won't feel how fast the 2 hours had flies. Lastly, the above suggestion is for your consideration and it is totally up to individual to do what they believe.

Good luck and happy spring cleaning!

What is Ba Zi?

Ba Zi means 8 characters in Chinese. Its derive from the translation of a person Date of Birth. This is like identifying which type of 'car' are you. Next is to "fine tune" the car (you) to its optimum performance. Imagine if your car timing is off, thus your performance and fuel consumption will be poor. Or when your alignment is out, then your car won't go straight. Therefore by knowing what is not performing at par, you can improve or even better, modify to further perform such as change air filter to K&N or using V-Power or platinum spark plug etc. In a nutshell, knowing your Ba Zi can help you perform at your peak.

Translation of Date of Birth to Ba Zi starts from your solar Date of Birth to lunar Date of Birth than Ba Zi. There is lot’s of confusion in understanding lunar date since its not our daily used date.

Chinese Lunar Date Confusion

Chinese Lunar Date is divided into 3 cycles. The upper cycle, middle cycle and lower cycle. Each cycle consist of 60 years also known as 60 甲子. We are currently at the lower cycle. (Lower cycle is from 1984 – 2043). The proper way of writing a Chinese Lunar Date is as follow :- 丙戌(Year) 3rd(Month) 4th (Day) (Time). Since 丙戌 repeat itself every 60 years it would be difficult for us to know which year the person is born, If one just state 丙戌 he could be 20 years old or 80 years old. Thus confusion would arise unless the person state upper cycle, middle cycle or lower cycle.

Confusion could also happen for the time of Birth in Lunar Date. The time is divided into 12 Chinese characters. If one were to just state 子 time which is from 11pm to 1am it is difficult to determine whether person is born today 12 midnight to 1am of yesterday 11pm to 12 mid night.
